The Japanese studies student Anna Kofler and the architecture student Max Lessing are meant for each other. But even though both have a passion for each other, somehow they never really come together. During her studies, the chaotic Anna decides against a mutual relationship for her career and does an internship abroad in Japan. Both lose sight of each other. They meet again about five years later. This time Anna asks him to accompany her to New York City , where she has a job. But Max can't. And so they meet again occasionally over the years and, despite old feelings, have to experience again and again how a meeting fails - until Max receives an invitation to Anna's wedding.
