The Seed Trader is a German love story by director Michael Keusch , who also worked on the script, from 2011. The literary film adaptation is based on the novel of the same name by German writer Petra Durst-Benning . In the lead role embodies Henriette Richter-Röhl , the innkeeper's daughter Hannah Brettschneider.

action

Hannah Brettschneider lives in the middle of the 19th century. She is the daughter of a landlord who is leaving her home in Munich to travel to Gönningen, a small town in Württemberg, to meet her great love, Helmut Kerner. Once there, she learns that Helmut belongs to an upscale, extremely respected family that successfully trades flower seeds all over the world. She did not expect this to be the case. But that's not the whole truth: She hears that Helmut has already been promised to the attractive Seraphine as a husband.

So the situation seems hopeless for Hannah. Nevertheless, she decides to look Helmut in the eye, because after all she is expecting a child from him.

Hannah's tenacity is crowned with success, because Helmut decides, against his mother's wishes, not to marry Seraphine after all. When Seraphine gets wind of the broken engagement, she takes Helmut's younger brother as her husband, but with the ulterior motive of being able to continue to be close to Helmut in this way.

Even if this circumstance pre-programmed resentment and strife, Helmut and Hannah do not let themselves be stopped from becoming a married couple.
