Petra Durst-Benning

Petra Durst-Benning (born February 11, 1965 in Baden-Württemberg ) is a German writer .

life and work

Petra Durst-Benning began an apprenticeship as a state-recognized business correspondent and translator after graduating from high school in agriculture. She later worked as an editor for a canine magazine and as a non-fiction author on natural healing methods in animals. In the 1990s she turned to fiction . After several publishers had initially rejected the manuscript , the first work to appear was the historical novel "Die Silberdistel", which is set in Wuerttemberg at the time of poor Konrad . Another 15 historical novels were published in the following years.

The published novel "The seed dealer" in 2005 was the 2011 ZDF filmed . The first volume of the glassblower trilogy, published in 2000 by Ullstein Verlag , was also made in 2016 with Die Glasbläserin, a literary film adaptation of the same name . A translation of the glassblower trilogy appeared in the USA from 2014 and reached a total circulation of almost one million copies.

In 2015, Petra Durst-Benning's first contemporary novel, “Herbs of the Province”, was published . To date, the author has sold more than 2.5 million books in Germany.
