Eine Krone für Isabell ( working title : A real princess ) is a German comedy film by director Michael Keusch , who also wrote the screenplay, from 2006. In the lead role , Felicitas Woll embodies the young hairdresser and potential heir to the throne Isabell.

action

King Victor, the head of the dwarf state of San Ferino, has died and the country is in mourning. The Queen Mother Patrizia is now under a certain time pressure, because the laws of the country stipulate that a suitable successor must be found within 90 days. Since the king himself has no direct descendants, there is already speculation in the country that the monarchy could now come to an end.

With the help of her servant Archibald, Patrizia sets out to find a successor to save the monarchy. Together, the two found what they were looking for in Isabell, who was born out of wedlock by King Victor and who works as a hairdresser in Berlin. Archibald goes on a trip to Berlin to bring her the news.

Once there, Isabell thinks the news about her possible succession to the throne is a bad joke. However, Archibald succeeds in convincing her and traveling back to San Ferino with Isabell.

Back in San Ferino, Isabell first has to endure a lot: She has to learn royal etiquette. In an unobserved moment, she manages to leave the palace, which she is actually not allowed to do without supervision. Outside the royal building, she meets Marco, a paparazzo who was also in Berlin unnoticed. Marco believes that Isabell is just an employee, Isabell lets him believe this, so a little romantic story develops between the two of them, which ends in a boat trip together and even a hot night of love. Meanwhile, he does not reveal that he is actually a sensational photographer and that he secretly photographs Isabell over and over again.

Marco sells the photographs he has taken to the sensational paper “San Ferino Express”. So, of all people, the heir to the throne made it onto the front page of the tabloid as a bikini girl. The catastrophe thus seems perfect.

But the plot still ends well. Isabell and Patrizia manage to clear up the matter and thus lead Isabell to the successor to the throne.

production

Markus Brunnemann produced the TV comedy for Phoenix Film (later UFA Fiction ) on behalf of ZDF . Filming began on August 22, 2004 and ended on September 22 of the same year. The shooting took place in Berlin and Croatia - Istria thus effectively becomes the fictional miniature state of San Ferino, Rovinj (unnamed) its capital.

First broadcast, different film titles abroad

A crown for Isabell was first broadcast on January 1, 2006 on ZDF. In France , the film was released on April 10, 2007, there under the title Isabelle, princesse rebelle .

Reviews

The film reviews are balanced: TV Spielfilm disparagingly called the production “Schmonzette” and judged with a thumb stretched to one side: “The US success Suddenly Princess sends its regards! Only Berlin, Berlin star Felicitas Woll brings some pep to tired fairy tales ”. The almost devastating conclusion of the program guide reads: “It's definitely more amusing with someone in the crown.” The verdict of the TV guide rtv was much more benevolent: “Lively Cinderella variant with lots of charm and wit”.
