history

During his apprenticeship in the USA, Hannsheinz Porst , junior manager of the Photo Porst mail order company , got to know various TV and radio supplements. After his return he sounded out the chances of the concept for the German market and decided to launch a TV and radio supplement. As a stranger to the industry, however, he was met with skepticism, especially since many publishers at the beginning of the 1960s saw no point in reproducing the programs of the up-and-coming competing medium of television in such a prominent form. In the end, Porst was able to convince four regional newspaper publishers of the sustainability of his idea: in 1961 the first edition of rtw ( radio television weekly supplement ) appeared with a still rather modest circulation of a little more than 100,000 copies.

In the same year, the publishing houses of the rtw merged in the VIG publishers interest group, which still exists today. In 1965 rtw was renamed rtv ( radio and television ). In 1990 the first east edition of rtv appeared .

From issue 19/2004 took over the rtv the order range of the set in the same year IWZ that 1973 as illustrated weekly newspaper the Stuttgarter Zeitung was founded and until then numerous newspapers in southwest Germany as a weekly program supplement had by lying.

Since 2008 rtv has been attached to the former BWZ ( Bunte Wochen Zeitung ) carrier newspapers , the production of which has been discontinued.

Matthias Roth has been editor-in-chief of rtv since 2006 . In an interview with the senior citizens' meeting on the Internet , he explains rtv's corporate strategy.
