Seniorentreff on the Internet (ST, seniorentreff.de ) is a social network for German-speaking people of more mature age, which is operated by the private institute for transparency in health care GmbH.
history
The domain Seniorentreff.de was put into operation in January 1998 by Margit Fischbach and Karl-Friedrich Fischbach as one of the first German-language online platforms for the encounter and communication of older people. In June 2017, the senior citizens' meeting on the Internet merged with the private institute for transparency in health care GmbH with the aim of securing the future. The joint website is now www.seniorenportal.de, whereby the acquired community of the senior citizens' meeting on the Internet is administered as before by the founders Margit Fischbach and Karl-Friedrich Fischbach. Today Seniorenportal.de is next to Feierabend.de one of the most popular senior portals in Germany , Austria and Switzerland .
According to the operator, the aim of the senior meeting place is to create a platform for communication and exchange among older people to improve their quality of life. In an interview with the chairman of the head office for teaching media on the Internet , Karl-Otto Kirst, Margit Fischbach emphasized that the senior citizens' meeting provides a platform that the members themselves would fill with life. The website tries to meet the demands of seniors in terms of font size and legible colors, anglicisms should be avoided as far as possible. With the expansion of the senior team's team in July 2017, a major software reorganization of the senior meeting went hand in hand. The aim for this was the production of responsive web design , as more and more senior citizens are on the go with tablets or smartphones.
