Loni von Friedl (* 24 July 1943 as Leontine Anna Maria Friedl of love trust in Vienna ) is an Austrian actress .

Life

Early days

The Austrian cameraman Fritz von Friedl and his Berlin- born wife moved back to Vienna to avoid the Allied air raids on Berlin in 1943. Shortly afterwards, Loni von Friedl was born. Loni Friedl took on children's roles on stage and on the radio at an early age . Her film career began in 1950 when she was seven years old in the English children's film The Mysterious Poacher . In the following year she played together with her two years older brother Fritz (Vinzenz als Kind) under the direction of Georg Marischka and at the side of Paul Hörbiger in the musical comedy Der fidele Bauer, the role of little Annamirl Raudaschl, the adult wife of Helli Servi was embodied.

After finishing school, she took ballet lessons with Pia Lucca and three years acting lessons with Vera Balser-Eberle in Vienna.

Film and television career

In 1962, Loni von Friedl received the film ribbon in gold as part of the German Film Prize in the category “Best Young Actress” for her role in the Berlin everyday story Zwei unter Millions , in which Hardy Krüger was her partner, as well as for her role in the Swiss German film drama Die Schatten are longer , in which she was seen alongside Luise Ullrich , Barbara Rütting and Hansjörg Felmy . In the American war film The Blue Max , she played in 1966, directed by John Guillermin, alongside George Peppard , James Mason and Ursula Andress . Theater career

In 1958 Loni von Friedl got an engagement at the Vienna Burgtheater , where she acted until 1965. She also appeared at the Städtische Bühnen von Köln (1958/59), at the Kleine Komödie in Munich (1961) and the Renaissance Theater in Berlin (1962). She has made several guest appearances at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg . In 1966/67 she played at the Munich Residenztheater , then at the Berlin Schillertheater . From 1973 to 1975 and again in 1980/81 she was part of the ensemble of the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin , from 1976 to 1980 she was under contract at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, and most recently again at the Schiller Theater in The Cat on a Hot Tin Roof .

In June 2007 Loni von Friedl was on stage at the St. Pauli Theater in Hamburg as Bette Davis in (Solo for Bette) , a play that she had written in collaboration with Horst Königstein, who died in 2013. She also played this piece in Berlin (at Theater O-TonArt in 2010). A student from Königstein, Julia Bossert, shot her film diploma thesis (screenplay and direction) Elli & Richard with von Friedl in 2013 . This film won the audience award at the Kyoto Festival.

family

Loni von Friedl was first married to Götz George from 1966 to 1976 . From this marriage comes a daughter who lives in Australia and works as a sculptor. In 1995 she was married to the actor Jürgen Schmidt , who died in November 2004 in Munich, where she still lives today, as a result of leukemia.

Loni von Friedl's brother Fritz von Friedl and her nephew Christoph von Friedl are also actors.
