Andreas Kleinert
Andreas Kleinert (* 1962 in East Berlin ) is a German author, film director and university professor .
Life
After graduating from high school, Kleinert worked as a transport worker, then as an equipment assistant in the DEFA studios in Potsdam . There he also worked as an assistant director in 1983/84, among others for Rainer Simon's Die Frau und der Fremde . From 1984 to 1989 he studied directing at the Konrad Wolf Academy for Film and Television, today's Babelsberg Film University . He has been working full-time as a writer and director since 1989.
His debut work Farewell Joseph was invited to the 1989 Locarno Film Festival competition . For his television works Lost Landscape , Paths into the Night , My Father and Polizeiruf 110 : Kleine Frau , he received the Adolf Grimme Prize , and for Mein Vater he also received the International Emmy Award for best television film.
Freischwimmer was Kleinert's first feature film since 1999 after a series of television productions. It wasnominated for the Queer Lion Award at the2007 Venice Film Festival .
Since 2006, Andreas Kleinert has been a professor in the film and television directing course at his former training facility, the Babelsberg Film University.
