occupation

Endspiel is a television film from the crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The film, produced for Bayerischer Rundfunk and directed by Andreas Kleinert , was first broadcast on November 8, 2009.

action

The police officer Harald Keller is found dead in the forest. Tauber and Obermaier assume suicide because the man had already received an eviction notice due to rent debts. Drug investigator Matthias Kurtz, on the other hand, is convinced that his colleague was murdered. He was his partner and they were friends in private too. He thinks the drug dealer Mark Kralewski is the murderer because his partner was on his trail.

Tauber works with the young, committed investigator Matthias Kurtz, whose unconventional charm he quickly succumbs to. But he also senses Kurtz's disappointment at the many failures in his work. During a night tour together, Kurtz shoots the suspect Kralewski. He portrays it as self-defense because Tauber was threatened with a weapon by him. But Tauber is sure that Kurtz used him as a decoy for his clever plan. Driven by this personal betrayal and in search of the truth, he researched the methods of the drug investigators and found out that Harald Keller had allowed himself to be bribed by Kralewski. To prove this, Tauber goes to Kurtz with a bugging microphone. He confesses that he just couldn't believe that his friend Keller was supposed to have been a "rat". For him, only Kralewski came into consideration as a murderer and to prove that he did not shy away from using Tauber as an alibi for his murder.

There is also a crisis in the Tauber / Obermaier team. Both investigate more and more single-handedly and Obermaier's superior Irmi Wiedemann wants to bring her directly to the team. With Tauber's current absence, he misses the renovation project of the offices, which he sees as an additional bullying attack by his colleagues, to which he is constantly exposed because of his homosexuality. When they then take it to the extreme, Obermaier stands by him and thinks about her courage. Nevertheless, Tauber resigns and ends the police service.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv rated this police call as “is a wistful swan song. It wasn't to be expected otherwise. The author is called Alexander Adolph, the director Andreas Kleinert, known for his sensitive soul dramas in autumnal gray. The 17th 'Polizeiruf 110' with Obermaier and Tauber is a formidable character crime thriller, a classic crisis play in five acts and a gloomy look. [...] Deeply pensive to hopeless, Tauber goes to the edge of what is bearable for him and the audience. "

Beate Strobel at Focus online comments on the investigative team's last case: "In the 'Endgame', the two fight a terrific war of the roses in the midst of a rather average crime thriller."

“[...] the farewell on Sunday evening will still be one of the bitter ones. Because the best crime scene is the Munich police call. Was the Munich police call. That was due to Edgar Selge, who stayed for eleven years before he didn't want to anymore, but it was also due to the brilliant figure of the one-armed investigator Tauber. "

- Judith von Sternburg : Frankfurter Rundschau

"The script (Alexander Adolph) and the director (Andreas Kleinert) use the 'Endgame', which takes place in Munich's […] Advent season and on mostly bitterly cold nights, for a whole series of impressive scenes."
