Edgar Selge
Edgar Selge (born March 27, 1948 in Brilon ) is a German actor .
Life
Edgar Selge grew up in a Protestant home in Herford , where his father was the director of the prison for young people . Selge lived a few meters from the prison. After attending the Friedrichs-Gymnasium in Herford , he switched to the musical Christian-Dietrich-Grabbe-Gymnasium in Detmold , where he graduated from high school in 1967 .
He first began to study piano at the Detmold Music Academy with Gregor Weichert and continued this in Vienna. He broke off his piano studies and moved to Munich, where he took part in the Theatertruppe Theater in der Marktlücke in the development and performance of a revue on German social democracy. From 1969 to 1972 he studied a. a. with Ernesto Grassi philosophy and German studies in Munich and Dublin . From 1974 he attended the Otto Falckenberg School , where he completed his training as an actor in 1975.
In the same year he made his debut at the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin . In 1978 he directed Tom Stoppard's Every Good Boy Deserves Favor at the Dublin Theater Festival .
Since 1978 Selge was engaged at the Münchner Kammerspiele . He played, among others, Andreas Kragler in Drumming in the Night (1979), Bleichenwang in Was ihr wollt (1980), Saint Just in Dantons Tod (1980), the Secretary in Maria Magdalena (1981), Arkas in Iphigenie auf Tauris (1981 ), Marinelli in Emilia Galotti (1984), Licht in Der zerbrochne Krug (1986) and George Garga in Bertolt Brecht's In the Thicket of Cities (1988). In 1989 he introduced the senior teacher Arnold in Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea represents .
In August 1991 Selge left the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele, but continued to perform there. He became known to a broad TV audience as the one-armed detective Jürgen Tauber in the episodes of the crime series Polizeiruf 110 produced by BR .
Edgar Selge has been married to the actress Franziska Walser since 1985 . The two have a son, Jakob Walser , who is also an actor, and a daughter, Maria Walser. Edgar Selge and Franziska Walser are active members of " BASTA - The Alliance for Mentally Ill People ", a campaign against discrimination against the mentally ill.
The director and screenwriter Titus Selge is a nephew of Edgar Selge.
