Rotkäppchen is a German fairy tale film from 2012. It is based on the fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm and was produced by Hessischer Rundfunk and Kinderfilm for the ARD series Six in one go .

action

When one day a cracked chicken is found in the village on the edge of the forest, people suspect that it was a wolf, although there are no wolves in the area. The hunter, however, is of the firm opinion that the chicken fell victim to a fox. Little Red Riding Hood is not worried, because for her the forest is not threatening, but a place full of adventure. That's how she learned it from her grandmother, who lives in a small house in the middle of the forest.

Little Red Riding Hood, however, has no idea that a wolf is running around in the forest. Only little Anton knows about this danger. However, nobody wants to believe him when he says that he saw the wolf himself. Both Anton and Little Red Riding Hood are teased by the other children.

When Little Red Riding Hood is sent off by her mother Annemarie, who has to earn a living alone with tailors, at the urging of the mayor, who absolutely wants a new dress, to bring her sick grandmother cake, wine and medicine, she too encounters the bad wolf . Little Red Riding Hood, however, is not afraid and is completely unconcerned with him. When the girl happily continues on her way to see the grandmother, the wolf forges the insidious plan to first eat the grandmother and then Little Red Riding Hood. He cleverly diverts the girl's attention to buy time and be in front of her at the grandmother's house.

The wolf rushes to the grandmother's house, eats her skin and hair, puts on her hood and goes to bed. When Little Red Riding Hood comes, he also eats the girl. Fortunately, the hunter, who had built a trap for Anton's sake, but in which he only finds Anton, comes and frees the boy. Anton tells him about the wolf, so that the hunter rushes to the grandmother's house to free her and Little Red Riding Hood, whose mother is already very worried. The wolf is still asleep even after the hunter fills his stomach with stones. The animal only wakes up briefly before it finally comes to an end.

criticism

The critic Rainer Tittelbach says: “A 'exemplary' fairy tale in the truest sense of the word [...] that Sibylle Tafel filmed into an entertaining, well-staged sixty-minute film in an atmospheric and fluid manner. Edgar Selge also contributes to the successful variation of the familiar as the bad wolf. "
