action

Princess Ella and the court musician Jasper are in love and want to get married. When the princess informs her father, King Wilbur, who likes to play and gamble, he initially refuses the connection due to professional reasons, but then agrees to speak to Jasper. However, he lets Jasper be thrown into the dungeon without further ado and passes his daughter a fake letter stating that Jasper allegedly wants to explore the world first. In the dungeon, Jasper meets two other prisoners: the red-haired Flora and the strong Lukas, who, however, has not yet had the idea of using his powers to escape from the dungeon. Jasper first has to convince him with a trick to tear out the bars and to flee with him and Flora, which they manage. After their escape, the three travel the world together. There they meet the fast runner Markus and the mysterious Lisa, who King Wilbur has also banished from his kingdom. Jasper feels it is right to teach the king a lesson in his actions. When Benjamin, “the greatest archer in the whole world”, joins them at the end, they want to use their skills to “turn the world off its hinges” and bet with the king. The six of them go to the royal castle, where Jasper the king challenges runners to a race. In order not to be recognized by the king, he disguised himself beforehand. He stakes his life as a bonus should he lose; but should he win, the king grants him the hand of the princess. The king agrees with confidence.

Princess Ella is extremely outraged because she does not recognize Jasper in his disguise and, even though Jasper has suddenly disappeared, does not want to marry anyone other than him. The race begins and Markus is so fast that he has a huge lead over the king's runner. So he lets himself be carried away to take a little break. He lies down under a tree and promptly falls asleep. Jasper is worried and when Benjamin looks into the distance, he sees Markus asleep under the tree. Without further ado, he shoots a branch out of the crown, so that Markus wakes up and wins the race after all. Flora helps him by, as she can communicate with the plants, growing a tendril on the path that brings down the royal runner.

After the race he lost, the king pretended to agree to hold the wedding the next day. But during the night his chancellor is supposed to kill the stranger, but he does not succeed because Jasper is warned by the princess. Jasper then reveals himself and Ella realizes what wrong game her father is playing. In order to teach her father a lesson, the princess agrees to the wedding. The king is amazed at his daughter's rapid change of heart and organizes a feast for Jasper and his friends. Unnoticed, he locks the six friends in the room and has a fire lit underneath. After the ground starts to glow, the mysterious Lisa shows her skills. With a few breaths, it spreads an icy coldness that freezes everything. The six of them leave the room completely frozen when the king lets it open again. Jasper reveals himself, whereupon the king offers him as much gold as a man can carry if he refrains from a wedding because he wants to keep his daughter at all costs. Jasper takes a sham and shows the king that the strong Luke can carry so much that the king's treasury is almost empty. Now finally the king honestly agrees to a wedding. However, Jasper and his friends have decided to venture out into the big wide world first, and Ella goes with them. In the end, King Wilbur is not only left alone, but also without treasure, which Lukas sunk in the lake until her return.

background

The shooting took place from June 3, 2014 to June 25, 2014 in Berlin and Brandenburg . The filming locations were Marquardt Park , Friedrichsfelde Castle , Spandau Citadel and the Marble Palace .

Deviations from the literature

  • In Grimm's fairy tale, a retired soldier who is not satisfied with his pay takes revenge on the stingy king.
  • The runner always has to strap on one leg so that he doesn't run too fast, which was solved in the film with additional weights.
  • The mysterious Lisa corresponds in the fairy tale to a man who conjures up frost by straightening his little hat.
  • The figure of Flora, who gets on well with plants, was originally a man who masters the wind and can also generate storms.
  • According to Grimm, the royal runner in the film is the king's daughter herself.
  • The shooter shoots the "pillow" from under the head of the fast runner so that he wakes up.
  • Because the six friends go out into the world with the royal treasure and without the king's daughter, the king sends his army after them (in the fairy tale), but the wind blows a storm against them to scatter it to all the winds.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv says about this film: “The fairy tale 'Sixes come through the whole world' is a plea for honesty and solidarity, but also and above all for being young and different. Six young outsiders against the encrusted court structures and the adult world of lies and contempt for human beings. Six outlaws, in solidarity in the fight against wealth and power, united by the bond of friendship and the power of optimism. Thematically dense, clearly told, cleverly cast, no run-of-the-mill sunshine fairytale design. "
