Die Salzprinzessin is a German fairy tale film from 2015 based on fairy tale motifs by the Brothers Grimm and Božena Němcová and produced for ARD for the ARD series Six in One Stroke . A fairy tale called The Salt Princess is not found in the children's and household tales under this name, but the plot of the film is similar to the fairy tale called Princess Mouse Skin and the Slovak folk tale Salt is more valuable than Božena Němcová's gold .

action

The widowed King Christoph wants to hand over the scepter to one of his three beloved daughters. The daughter who loves the king the most is to succeed the throne in order to become a queen as compassionate as the late mother.

When Princess Amélie explores the forest again, she finds a sparkling salt crystal. Then she meets Prince Thabo from the distant kingdom of Bokanda on a rock. He falls in love with Amélie, but before Amélie can find out her name, Princess Amélie has disappeared into the forest again.

King Christoph asks his three daughters to answer a question in order to determine his successor. He wants to know how much his three daughters love him. The two oldest daughters say they love their father as much as gold, silver and silk. The youngest daughter Amélie, however, only says to love him like a daughter and later compares him to salt, whereupon she is banished from the country, because the king does not recognize the value of salt.

Over the next few years, Amélie goes on tour disguised as a journeyman so that she is not recognized as a princess. So she takes the name Anton and helps out with a landlord for about a year, from whom she later has to flee because she has messed with cardsharps. Then she meets Prince Thabo again in the forest as Anton, with whom she rides a few miles to the vicinity of her home castle, where she wants to visit her father again. However, he still doesn't want to know anything about his youngest daughter, so Amélie leaves the castle again. She finally finds accommodation with a forest woman, her allegedly deceased mother, and lives with her in a small hut for the next time.

In the castle, the king worries about his two remaining daughters because they spend so much money on shoes and jewelry. Furthermore, after a while the salt becomes scarce and runs out all over the country. In the meantime, Prince Thabo has also visited the king and asked about Amélie and learned of her exile. He goes on a search. Amélie finally returns home with a bag of salt. She marries Thabo and is appointed queen of the country.
