Das Märchen von der Regentrude is a German fairy tale film from 2018. It is based on the art fairy tale Die Regentrude by Theodor Storm and was produced by NDR for the ARD series Six in One Stroke .

People suffer from great heat and drought. Everyone wishes that the great drought will finally end. Maren not only dreams of the big rain, but also that she can marry her beloved Andrees. But her father, the rich farmer Iven, does not allow her to take the impoverished Stine's son as a husband.
Iven is a sober-minded person who does not believe in the story of the Regentrude who, according to the other villagers, brings the rain. Maren sees a chance to marry her Andrees after all and bets her father that he will agree to their marriage if it starts raining before the next sunset.
A long time ago, one of Stine's ancestors woke the Regentrude when she fell asleep. The little saying needed for this and the way were forgotten. Andrees can find out both from the Feuermann. Maren and Andrees set out to wake the Regentrude from her sleep and thus end the rule of the fireman with his destructive heat.
On their journey, the two are repeatedly hindered by the spells of the fireman. At some point they meet the ferryman, who no longer has a job because the river he has to cross travelers has already dried up and his boat is broken. Andrees stays behind to repair the boat together with the ferryman, so that Maren, as soon as she has woken the Regentrude, can also come back over the then existing river.
After a while, Maren meets a little elf who, when Maren solves a puzzle, leads her to the garden of the Regentrude. After the Regentrude has been awakened, she and Maren go to a well and after this has been opened, it finally starts to rain.
Maren and Andrees travel home again and get married.

The shooting took place from June 11th to June 28th, 2018. The film was shot in the open-air museum at Kiekeberg in Rosengarten-Ehestorf, in Reinbek-Ohe and Hamburg-Fischbek.
