Whoever finds out should be allowed to marry one of them. But if he doesn't find out after three nights, he has to die.

Although some volunteer, they all fail because they fall asleep at night instead of unraveling the mystery and end up on the gallows. Finally, the court master, who is keen on the throne himself, offers himself to the king again and again and is secretly in love with Amanda, finds the soldier and puppeteer Anton. He refuses at first, but when he sees Amanda, he falls madly in love with her and accepts the offer.

With the advice of an old woman, whose bundle he carried to the castle, to use a camouflage coat that she gave him and not to drink the evening drink brought by the eldest daughter, he succeeded in tricking his daughters three times without being noticed Path to follow into an enchanted underworld. There they dance with eleven enchanted princes to redeem them. Each time he takes a piece of twig as evidence, but pretends not to know anything. Only at the gallows, Anton tells the king that he cannot reveal the secret, otherwise the princesses would be unhappy and the king did not want this. So the king offers him to choose one of his daughters for his wife, but Anton refuses to free a woman who does not love him and thus also rejects the throne because he wants Amanda to be his wife.
