Andreas Schmidt (actor)
Andreas M. Schmidt (born November 23, 1963 in Finnentrop - Heggen ; † September 28, 2017 in Berlin ) was a German actor and director .
Life
Schmidt grew up in the West Berlin district of Märkisches Viertel . As a teenager he was the singer of the rock band Lillie's love . He first studied German and philosophy . He later attended various acting and directing seminars. Stage engagements in Mannheim , Dortmund , Bonn and Berlin followed. Schmidt wrote and staged his own plays and also played numerous smaller roles in films. He made his cinema debut in 1987 in Peng! You are dead! . He was given the leading role in three films by director Eoin Moore : plus minus zero (1999) as Alex, Conamara (2000) as Axel and Pigs Will Fly (2002) as Laxe. In 2003 he was nominated for Pigs Will Fly for the German Film Award as best leading actor.
In November 2005, Schmidt's directorial work Männerhort premiered in the Berlin Theater on Kurfürstendamm . The play by Kristof Magnusson was a great success in the cast with Bastian Pastewka , Christoph Maria Herbst , Michael Kessler and Jürgen Tonkel .
Schmidt played in Andreas Dresen's comedy Sommer vorm Balkon in 2006 and was nominated for the German Film Prize for best supporting actor. In the same year he was seen as a day laborer Rudi in the German film Neandertal . He was part of the cast of the concentration camp drama Die Fälscher , which won the Oscar for best foreign-language film in 2008 . For his appearance in the feature film Meat is My Vegetables , he received the German Film Prize 2009 for the best male supporting role.
He was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2012 for the television film A Good Summer . His work in film and television includes more than 140 productions.
Schmidt lived with his wife and son (* 2008) in Berlin, where he died in September 2017 at the age of 53 after a long period of cancer . He was buried in the Dahlem forest cemetery (grave site 007-332).
