Krause's secret is a television comedy by Bernd Böhlich from 2014. It is the fourth episode in the film series about Police Chief Krause with the actor of the same name as the main actor. The fictional location Schönhorst in Brandenburg is the focus of the film.

action

The film begins with the arrival of a ship at the Rostock port . In addition to numerous tourists, a man with a duffel bag gets out and introduces himself as Albert during the film.

Meanwhile, the village policeman Horst Krause is on patrol in the surrounding area on his motorcycle with a sidecar in which his dog is sitting. Back in Schönhorst, Krause stops at a dilapidated house from which he hears noises. In the building he meets Schlunzke, who explains to him that he had bought this house for one euro and that he is now able to use it for himself and the village doctor, Dr. Jessen want to prepare. Krause can hardly believe his ears, tries to bring Schlunzke to his senses, but a short time later leaves the building without having achieved anything and returns to his inn.

Albert stands in front of the inn with his duffel bag and looks at the building. When asked by Krause, he asks whether a Horst Krause lives in the inn. Krause feels addressed, but does not ask any further questions, as Albert only inquires whether it is possible to spend the night in the inn. Krause then asks him to come in.

In the guest room Elsa, Horst Krause's sister, is talking to a woman who introduces herself as a neighbor of Meta from Cologne. Meta, the sister of Horst and Elsa, who has meanwhile married Rudi Weissglut and left Schönhorst for Cologne , sends them greetings from her neighbor and an envelope with two free flight tickets so that Horst and Elsa can visit them in Cologne.

Horst Krause is not impressed by this and assigns Albert a room after he has had his passport shown to be on the safe side. He understands from the document that Albert has been to many different places in the world, which he explains by the fact that circus blood was flowing in him.

During the night Elsa wakes up to noises and wakes her brother, who then goes into the guest room with his sister. Here they witness a telephone call from Albert. When his interlocutor hangs up, Krause confronts him and Albert confesses that he is married but is no longer wanted at home. He also tells about Sophia Piranelli, his mother, who spent a summer in Schönhorst with her circus about 50 years ago, and that he is looking for his father, whom he never met. He hopes to find him in Schönhorst.

Krause, who is slowly realizing a few things, panics and persuades his sister to fly to Cologne after all. The next day they close their inn and drive to the airport. Overwhelmed by the formalities there, Krause gets "cold feet". He reveals himself to his sister and tells her that Albert is his son. The duo then decided to return to Schönhorst.

Back in the village, they catch Schlunzke making a fire in the local village pond and Albert catching fish illegally. Both men are enthusiastically surrounded by the local crowd of children. After a verbal warning about fishing, Krause asks Albert to go to the inn, where he tells him that he thinks he is his father. Albert tells Krause that his mother has died and that she gave him a letter before she died, which he now gives to Krause. Sophia Piranelli wrote the letter in 1962, a year after meeting Krause in the summer of 1961. In it, she informed him that she had had a son whose father he was. There are two photos enclosed with the cover, one shows Krause alone and the other shows Krause and Piranelli huddling together in love. In the following years, father and son slowly approach each other and do some things together. For example, they build a raft for the children in the village that is launched into the water on the village pond.

Some time later, Albert borrows his father's motorcycle and goes on a tour with the village doctor, Dr. Jessen, whom he met during his stay. Back at the inn, he is called to order by Krause, who is of the opinion that Albert should first take care of his existing marriage before starting something new. In addition, Schlunzke is hopelessly in love with the doctor.

At the alumni meeting of Dr. At dinner in Krause's inn, there is a scandal with one of the guests, who is furious about village life and especially about Schlunzke. Krause defends Schlunzke as well as his village and the prevailing way of life. The guests then leave the inn.

Albert and his father Horst also part ways. Albert has decided to return to save his marriage and is taken away by the villager Karsunke, who gives up his carpentry business and emigrates to Sweden. Krause and Elsa watch the car when the mail arrives and hands over a letter from Meta. In this, Meta invites her siblings to Paris on the occasion of their wedding anniversary .

Krause goes to Schlunzke, who has restored the interior of the dilapidated former castle perfectly, in the hope that one day he will be here with his beloved, Dr. Jessen to be able to live. Krause is amazed at the good work his friend has done and invites him to come to Paris because he is part of the family. A few days later Meta and Rudi wait for Horst and Elsa in front of the Eiffel Tower . When Meta sees her siblings, she runs towards them and happily falls into Horst's arms. She is happy, as is Rudi, that the whole family is now together. The keyword family causes Elsa to whisper her brother's secret to the sister, namely that their common nephew is missing.

The film ends with Schlunzke planning a landmark for Schönhorst in view of the Eiffel Tower and Elsa leaving the square with an accordionist who turns out to be a citizen of Leipzig.

Locations

Like the other three parts, Krause's secret was mostly filmed in the Brandenburg villages of Ihlow near Strausberg and Gröben, south of Berlin in the Teltow-Fläming district . Other locations were Rostock and Paris.

Reviews

“From time to time you just like to see him, the corpulent Krause with his skeptical look. And you prefer to see him on his old motorcycle with a sidecar, in which there is space for the dog and the newly found son. And the Brandenburg summer landscape is a feast for the eyes anyway. "

“The film lives from the detail, from the easy way in which it is told. It is a declaration of love for the simple life in the country and shows that happiness also exists where instead of luxury there are simply cackling geese. "
