Michael Kessler (born June 24, 1967 in Wiesbaden ) is a German actor , comedian , theater director , author and presenter . He became known with the movie Manta, Manta (1991) and the comedy series Switch . In 2008 he was awarded the German Comedy Prize in the “Best Actor” category.

Michael Kessler passed his Abitur in 1986 at the high school at Mosbacher Berg in Wiesbaden. Already during his school days he worked in the theater group and appeared as part of the school theater days at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden . From 1988 to 1992 he completed an apprenticeship at the Westphalian Drama School in Bochum . During his studies he appeared in the role of Georg Zierschnitz in Frank Wedekind's youth drama Spring Awakening at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (1990) and in the role of the Lorraine knight Raoul in Schiller's Die Jungfrau von Orléans at the Schauspiel Frankfurt (1991).

After receiving his diploma, Kessler was engaged at the Nationaltheater Mannheim from 1992 to 1995 . There he played, among others, Dr. Leopold Neumeister in the comedy Der Raub der Sabinerinnen by Franz and Paul von Schönthan , Dauphin in St. Johanna by George Bernard Shaw and Osvald Alving in Henrik Ibsen's family drama Ghosts . In 1996 he was hired for the production of poker at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . Together with Christoph Maria Herbst , Bastian Pastewka and Jürgen Tonkel , he performed the comedy Männerhort on the stage of the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Berlin from 2005 to 2009 . During their season they appeared in a total of 166 sold-out performances in front of around 120,000 spectators.

In 2010, Kessler's own live program, The Little Hits of the Big Stars, premiered, in which he presented the artistic mistakes of prominent colleagues. In 2011 he first worked as a director and staged the stage work The 39 stages , adapted by Patrick Barlow, based on the detective novel by John Buchan and the thriller of the same name by Alfred Hitchcock at the Deutsches Theater Göttingen . In the following season 2012/2013 he staged the comedy Der nackte Wahnsinn , written by Michael Frayn , at the DT Göttingen . In Bernd Eichinger's action comedy Manta, Manta , Kessler made his debut in 1991 as "Klausi" in his first film role. As an author, he was and is involved in all seasons of Switch Reloaded , his own comedy series Kesslers Knigge and the radio comedy Kesslers Shooting Stars , which is broadcast on 1 Live . For Thomas Sessler Verlag in Vienna , he edited the 1960s tabloid comedy Boeing-Boeing by the French writer Marc Camoletti and the film comedy Testosteron (2007) by the Polish director Andrzej Saramonowicz. Boeing-Boeing celebrated its successful premiere in June 2008 at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Berlin.

In 2010 he wrote the German version of Paul Dewandre's Mars and Venus for Theater Mogul and directed the comedy comedy under the title Mars and Venus - Crash Course Love .
