action
The successful advertiser Tom Moreno is a womanizer: he seduces women and separates from them after the third time at the latest. When Elisa, the new art director of his agency, comes into his life, this changes. She turns the tables and gives him the pass in no time. Tom, stuck in a crisis of meaning, would now urgently need the help of his friends. But they have no time for him, as they have to struggle with their own special problems: Vince believes that his wife is cheating on Tom. Luke learns from Tom's mother of all people that no sex is also no solution; and the asexual Paule falls in love all of a sudden and mutates from a buddy to a femme fatale. As if that wasn't enough, his boss Rolf tells him that the agency is as good as broke. Shaken in this way, Tom is no longer able to adequately adhere to his relationship avoidance rules. reception
criticism
"Anyone who loves no-ear rabbits or men's hearts should also really feel at home with Torsten Wacker's over-the-top relationship comedy," summarized Blickpunkt: Film . “The German relationship comedy is celebrating its revival , but is less surprising with new volts in the emotional mode, but relies on traditional complications such as jealousy and misunderstandings, which of course lead to a happy ending. The harmless pleasure doesn't hurt anyone [...] and is amused by the string of sketches. Good Saturday evening entertainment guaranteed. "
Rainer Gansera from the Süddeutsche Zeitung rated the film less well: “Right from the start, this bestseller film [...] conveys the impression of those TV movies that randomly use the most depraved motifs from relationship box comedies. [...] The gags are pulled up by the hair in such a clumsy way and packaged in an advertising clip aesthetic that the last potential joke has to escape them. This would-be comedy absolutely believes that stupid is funny. A fatal error. ”The film is a“ mindless comedy ”.
Filmstarts.de editor Valentina Resetarits rated the film with two out of five possible stars and wrote: “In a good mood, Wacker pushes comedy clichés to extremes in [...] No sex is no solution , although the numerous guest appearances and subplots by no means always amusing. "Wacker only succeeds" in spite of a thoroughly original approach, only occasionally [...] in generating funny sparks. The many characters and subplots never want to fit together, and the central love story remains underexposed ”.
Rainer Tittelbach found in his review on Tittelbach.tv that no sex is not a solution either “suffers from the fundamental misunderstanding”, “from a number revue of reasonably funny situations and types, a dramaturgy and an entertaining story would result”. The film is not only "materially and intellectually an oath of revelation, it has also failed dramatically [...] This so-called relationship cinema comedy has less sense, wit and originality than an average Sat 1 comedy. A pointed nothing remains nothing. The staging and the cast alone exceed the usual TV movie level ”.
success
The film premiered on September 14, 2011 at the Oldenburg International Film Festival . The official German theatrical release finally followed on December 1, 2011. After the end of the first screening weekend, the production counted more than 60,000 visitors in 292 cinemas, placing itself behind Breaking Dawn , In Time - your time is running out , Happy Feet 2 , Der Gott des Carnage and war of the gods at number 6 on the cinema charts. With almost 150,000 visitors by the end of the year, the comedy was placed in the top 40 of the most-watched German cinema productions of 2011. A total of 178,000 viewers saw the film.
