After the establishment of the public park at the end of the 1860s, the first simple excursion restaurant was built in 1872/73 at the location of today's hotel on Hollersee. As part of the Northwest German Trade and Industry Exhibition , which took place on the grounds of the Bürgerpark in 1890, it was replaced by a monumental festival hall . The festival hall was used as a restaurant, for banquets, concerts and other festive events. While almost all of the buildings were demolished after the exhibition ended in October 1890, the festival hall was retained as a parking garage . However, the building was destroyed by fire as early as 1907 as a result of fireworks .

From 1912 to 1913, a new building in the style of a princely country house was built in place of the burnt down predecessor according to plans by Rudolf Jacobs . This fell victim to a bomb attack during World War II.

The monument to Siegfried the Dragon Slayer from 1890 by the sculptor Constantin Dausch stands on the west side of the hotel.

The Park Hotel today

The current building dates from 1955. Its style is based on the previous building from 1913 and was built according to plans by Herbert Anker and Theodor Rosenbusch , whose offices won the 1950 competition. The center of the building is an oval domed structure with a dominant domed roof. The building has been a listed building since 1984.

The west and east wings were added in 1958, 1963, 1966/68 (according to plans by Theodor Rosenbusch) and 2004 (according to plans by Gert Schulze). In 1981, the management of the dairy in the Bürgerpark was taken over by the Parkhotel staff.

In early 2013, preliminary insolvency proceedings were initiated against the operating company.

The Park Hotel Bremen has been part of the Dorint Group since August 1, 2013 . The hotel has been part of the Hommage Hotels Luxury Collection, a premium brand of the Dorint Group, since 2019. The name affix Dorint has thus been dropped.
