The sculpture Siegfried the Dragon Slayer is in Bremen - Schwachhausen on the west side of the Parkhotel am Bürgerpark . It is included in the list of monuments and statues of the city of Bremen .

The marble sculpture of Siegfried as a dragon slayer from 1875 comes from the sculptor Constantin Dausch . It was prepared in 1890 as a fountain figure on a round sandstone plinth. The occasion was the Northwest German Trade and Industry Exhibition in Bremen. At the makeshift fountain, the jet of water came from the dragon's mouth. In 1892 the marble group was moved in front of and later next to the Park Hotel.

Siegfried the Dragon Slayer is a mythological, Germanic legendary figure, especially from the Nibelungen saga . Then Siegfried ( Sigurd ) comes from the hero family of the Wälsungen and comes from Xanten on the Lower Rhine. With superhuman strength he kills the dragon Fáfnir and after a few heroic tales wins a great treasure. The legend goes back to the time of the Great Migration .

The Northwest German commercial, industrial, commercial, marine, deep-sea fishing and art exhibition in Bremen in 1890 was a joint exhibition organized by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen , the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and the Prussian Province of Hanover based on the model of the world exhibitions . With 1.2 million visitors it was the largest exhibition in Germany up to that point.
