As Revival (Engl. For "revival", "renewal", "awakening", and "Renaissance") refers to the resurgence of a fad of the past. The term is particularly widespread in pop music and jazz . But it is also often used in the visual arts and other branches of culture, as well as in the fashion industry.

A “band revival” is the “revival of a band” that had previously disbanded, with the same or modified members.

When musicals and other popular forms of theater means Revival the resumption of a piece, after it did not go more on the stage a long time. This often happens in a new direction and modern equipment. Revivals are as complex as new productions. They only pay in the costs if they can be played en suite for a longer period of time . Therefore, revivals are often preferred to new productions in order to minimize the risk. Musicals that experience numerous revivals are often also known as film musicals such as Grease (1971) or The Rocky Horror Show (1973).

In English , the term “revival” also describes neo-styles in architecture and art history ( neo-Gothic , neoclassicism ) or religious revival movements (e.g. the Great Awakening in the United States ).
