Resumption (theater)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A resumption of the theater is a new series of performances of a production after a long interruption. In contrast to the new production , the revival takes on the decorations, costumes and the direction concept of an older production. There are often resumptions at theaters with a repertoire system .

Resumptions can also take place with new roles , especially in music theater . Longer rehearsals are necessary for this, which are sometimes only directed by the assistant director (the director may have already died, as in Herbert von Karajan's productions in the repertoire of the Vienna State Opera ).
