The Dockland is an office building on the Elbe near the former England ferry terminal and current cruise terminal in Hamburg 's Altona-Altstadt (Van-der-Smissen-Straße 9). The six-story building has a striking cross-section in the form of a parallelogram and protrudes over the water like a ship's bow .

The property between the fishing port and the Elbe was filled in at the end of 2002. The building was completed in 2005 and inaugurated on January 31, 2006.

The design for Dockland comes from the Hamburg office of BRT Architects Bothe Richter Teherani . The diagonal passenger elevators are a special feature of the building .

The almost 500 square meter roof terrace offers a good view over the Hamburg harbor and the northern bank of the Elbe; it is accessible to the public via one of the two flight of stairs ; However, representatives of the press require a filming permit .

The height of the building is 25 meters, there are 136 steps leading up to the platform .

The side surface is a parallelogram with a length of 134 meters and a height of 25 meters. The building is 21 meters wide

The building is currently used by the Nordakademie Graduate School, among others .
