Anna Maria Thalbach (born June 1, 1973 in East Berlin , real name Anna Maria Joachim Thalbach ) is a German actress .

Career

Thalbach was born into a theater family in East Berlin. Her mother is the actress Katharina Thalbach , her father the actor Vladimir Weigl , nephew of Helene Weigel . Her maternal uncles are actor Pierre Besson and director Philippe Besson . Her stepfather was the author Thomas Brasch , her maternal grandparents the actress Sabine Thalbach and the director Benno Besson .

As a child she played minor roles. After secondary school , she first began an internship in the costume tailoring of the Berlin Schillertheater , but soon she celebrated her first stage success at the side of her mother in Brecht's mother Courage . She made her feature film debut in 1990 in Hark Bohms Herzlich Willkommen . For her role in Tender Blackmailer , Anna Thalbach was awarded as the best young actress at the 1993 Max Ophüls Film Festival . In 2001 she received the German Television Award in the category Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the crime scene child death .

Anna Thalbach is also an audio book speaker . For her reading of the novel Paint It Black by Janet Fitch, she was awarded the German Audio Book Prize for best interpreter in 2008 . In 2014 she was nominated for the German animation speaker award at the Trickfilmfestival Stuttgart for Das kleine Gespenst .

Anna Thalbach has a daughter, Nellie Thalbach . She, too, followed in the footsteps of her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, played in Maria an Callas and in 2005 released the audio CD Invisible Companions with her mother . Of angels and guardian angels .

Since 2014 she has appeared in the ZDF quiz program Der Quiz-Champion as a permanent expert for the category “Literature and Language”.
