Jodi Lynn Picoult [ ˈdʒoʊdi ˈpiːkoʊ ] (born May 19, 1967 in Nesconset on Long Island , New York ) is an American writer . Picoult is a bestselling author and has authored over 25 popular novels as well as youth literature . In 2007 she was also the author of Wonder Woman Comics.

Life

Picoult grew up on Long Island in the US state of New York. She studied creative writing at Princeton University and graduated in 1987. She earned a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University .

Jodi Picoult is also involved in various charitable initiatives, including on the Advisory Board for Vida: Women in Literary Arts , an organization that advocates for the concerns of previously marginalized groups in the literary business, such as People of Color , authors Disabilities or queer , trans or non-gendered authors.

Create

Picoult's first book, Songs of the Humpback Whale , was published in 1992. Since then she has written over 25 novels, most of which revolve around an ethical problem, e. B. Designer babies, child abuse or the death penalty. So Nineteen Minutes a novel of 2007 on the meticulous search of clues to the causes of a student's school shooting in a fictional small town. The book sat immediately topped the bestseller list of the New York Times ( The New York Times Best Seller list ) and stayed there for weeks. Her next book, Change Of Heart , which appeared in March 2008, also jumped to the top spot.

In 2003 Picoult received the "New England Bookseller Award" in the fiction category. With In the eyes of others , they won the 2011 Lovelybooks reader price in the category audiobook .

In addition to novels for adults, Picoult has also written books for young people. In 2007 she was the writer of the DC Comics series Wonder Woman .
