Annette Pehnt (born July 25, 1967 in Cologne ) is a German writer and literary scholar based in Freiburg im Breisgau .

Life

Annette Pehnt, born 1967 in Cologne, graduated from high school in 1986 and then did voluntary social work in Belfast ( Northern Ireland ); she also lived and worked in Scotland for a year . She studied English , Celtology and German at the universities in Cologne , Galway , Berkeley and Freiburg im Breisgau . She completed her studies in 1994 with a master's degree and the first state examination; 1997 followed by a doctorate at the University of Freiburg with a thesis on Irish literature . She was also a freelancer for the Badische Zeitung and the FAZ .

Annette Pehnt, who is married and the mother of three children, has lived as a writer in Freiburg im Breisgau since 1992; she has also been teaching at the teacher training college there since 2007 . Since 2018 she has held a professorship for creative writing and cultural journalism at the University of Hildesheim Foundation .

She is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
