Children's Book Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Children's Book Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia has been awarded annually since 1989 for children's books that are suitable for the first reading age and can also be used in school lessons. The books should meet the linguistic and content requirements of the age group, be available in stores and appeal directly to children through their presentation (cover, typesetting, illustrations).

The prize money is 5,000 euros. Suggestions for suitable titles, usually by German-speaking authors, for assessment by a jury are obtained from the Ministry of Culture of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . It is not possible for publishers or authors to submit their own application.

The award ceremony takes place as part of a public event with readings and exhibitions, for example since 1996 every two years during the International Children's and Young People's Book Exhibition (IKiBu) in the Duisburg City Library .
