Håkon Øvreås (born April 5, 1974 in Norway ) is a Norwegian writer and poet . Since 2008 he has written four books, including three volumes of poetry and one children's book , which is also available in German translation. His best-known work is the children's book Brune (2013, German Super Bruno 2016).

Life

Håkon Øvreås graduated from Oslo University in 2008 with a degree in literature. The title of his thesis is "Forfatteren og hans forunderlige Verk - en teoretisk undersøkelse av forholdet mellom forfatter and med starting point i en lesning av Arild Nyquist's novel Giacomettis forunderlige Reise".

In 2016 he was a member of the jury for The Extraordinary Book of the Children and Youth Program of the Berlin International Literature Festival .

Literary work

Avhaben mellom hus

Håkon Øvreås' first volume of poetry Avhaben mellom hus was published in Norwegian by the Norwegian publisher Cappelen Damm in 2008 and comprises 64 pages. The book has not yet been published in German translation. “Avhaben mellom hus” is a collection of poems in which, at first glance, simple things like frying pans, socks, potatoes and pastries are discussed in everyday language, but at second glance, a far more profound reference to social unease.

Grevlingvariasjonene

Øvreås' second volume of poetry, Grevlingvariasjonene , was published in Norwegian in 2011 by Cappelen Damm and comprises 48 pages. The book has not yet been published in German translation. Fathers, sons and badgers populate the poetry of this volume of poems.

Brune / Super Bruno

Super Bruno (original title: Brune ) is the first children's book by Håkon Øvreås and the Norwegian illustrator Øyvind Torseter. Brune was published in 2013 by the Norwegian publisher Gyldendal Norsk Forlag AS in Norwegian and comprises 136 pages. The German translation is in 2016 when publisher Carl Hanser published and contains 144 pages. Angelika Kutsch did the translation. The book has been published in Denmark , France , Korea , Sweden and the USA , among others.

The book tells the story of Bruno, a boy who during the day has to deal with the death of his grandfather and the trouble with three older boys from the neighborhood and at night becomes a superhero who takes revenge with his friends on his adversaries - completely without destruction and offense.

Super-Bruno was awarded the Nordisk råds barne- og ungdomslitteraturpris (literature prize of the Nordic Council) (2014) and the Kulturdepartementets litteraturpris for barne- og ungdomslitteratur (state prize of the Norwegian Ministry of Culture) (2013). Among other things, it was discussed as follows in the features section: »There are books that you just want to hold in your arms, press and hold. One such jewel, you can feel it on the first few pages, is the book Super-Bruno «( Markus C. Schulte von Drach , Süddeutsche Zeitung, March 14, 2016).

Kjærlighet

Øvreå's third volume of poetry, Kjærlighet , was published in Norwegian by Cappelen Damm in 2014 and comprises 68 pages. The book has not yet been published in German translation. The third volume of poetry by the Norwegian author focuses on the themes of love, sex and physicality.
