His children's book series about Anton , with which he became widely known since 2004, is reminiscent of The Peanuts in that they too revolve around the dreams and conflicts of a little boy of preschool age. With Desperado. He presented a western in 2019, a fantasy adventure book in which a little hero with his versatile horse Desperado saves his kindergarten teacher who was kidnapped by "Black Bart". The FAZ critic emphasized that Ole Könnecke neither overloaded his pictures nor his stories so that they were "the opposite of hidden objects". A lot is told through the versatile facial expressions of Roy and his horse, but the "simplicity of text and image is only an apparent one".
