Jan Weiler
Jan Weiler (born October 28, 1967 in Düsseldorf ) is a German journalist and book author .
Life
Jan Weiler, who grew up in Meerbusch , worked as a freelancer for the Westdeutsche Zeitung during his school days . After graduating from high school and doing community service , he worked as an advertising copywriter from 1987 , before graduating from the German School of Journalism in Munich in 1993 . Weiler was first editor from 1994 , then from 2000 to 2005, together with Dominik Wichmann, editor-in-chief of SZ-Magazin . As such, in 2002 he wrote an article for an Italy special about his father-in-law, who had once come to Germany as an Italian guest worker . Weiler was initially skeptical about the article, but when the article was published, the response was unexpectedly positive. He then went to Italy with his father-in-law Antonio in 2003 to have his life story told there. From this came the book Maria, he doesn't like it! that he doesn't want to be understood autobiographically , but as fiction . The book mixes fictional elements with the stories of the father-in-law "Antonio" and the experiences of Weiler with his Italian family in a humorous way. In 2005, the successor Antonio appeared in Wonderland .
Since 2004 he can be seen and heard as a reader of his works on various city tours. The resulting travel diary was processed literarily in his book In My Little Land 2006. Since 2007, Weiler has been writing the weekly column Mein Leben als Mensch , which appears from 2007 to 2009 in stern and since 2009 in Welt am Sonntag . Weiler has been reading his column in the Sunday supplement on Bayern 2 since 2012 . After that, the current report can be listened to for a week on the broadcast's homepage. Since 2015 the column and the entire archive have been published freely accessible on his website. Since March 2019 the column has also been available as a podcast on the homepage of Bayerischer Rundfunk and the ARD Audiothek .
In 2009, the film adaptation of Maria, he doesn't like it , for which he also wrote the screenplay, was released in German cinemas; towards the end of the film he made a cameo as a registrar. In 2016 the film adaptation of Antonio in Wonderland followed , Antonio, he doesn't like it! , and 2017 Puberty: The Movie . Kühn has to do was made into a film and was shown on television Das Erste at the end of January 2019 . Jan Weiler plays a guest role in the second season of the series The Institute - Oasis of Failure .
In March 2017 it was announced that Weiler's works will be published by Piper Verlag in the future.
Jan Weiler is married to the journalist Sandra Limoncini and lives with his family in Ebenhausen-Schäftlarn in Upper Bavaria and Umbria . The term Emilism goes back to Jan Weiler .
