Konrad Johann Aloysia Beikircher (born December 22, 1945 in Bruneck , South Tyrol ) is a cabaret artist , musician and author whose work is primarily devoted to the Rhenish character and way of speaking.

Life

In 1965 Konrad Beikircher came to Bonn from his South Tyrolean home in Bruneck to study there. He took the subjects of musicology , psychology and philosophy . From 1971 he worked as a prison psychologist in the Siegburg prison ; before an upcoming promotion in 1986 he quit his job and has been working as a freelance cabaret artist ever since. He lives in Bonn- Bad Godesberg . After the death of his first wife in 1981, he remarried and separated from his wife in 1986. He has two children from the second marriage and three children from the third (since 1989). The conductor Lukas Beikircher is his nephew.

In his cabaret programs, Beikircher mainly devotes himself to the language and essence of the Rhinelander. With his concert guides Andante Spumante and Scherzo Furioso as well as the opera guides Palazzo Bajazzo and Bohème Suprême , Beikircher ventured into a terrain that in Germany only Eckhard Henscheid has mastered: art, the listener-reader musical works in a very humorous and knowledgeable way bring close. He showed this again in 2006 with his program Una festa sui prati , in which he interpreted songs by Adriano Celentano (including the eponymous Una festa sui prati ) and commented on them in German. Beikircher moderates the pasticcio musicale of SWR2 - music lesson on the third Saturday of each month.

Honors

For his services to the dialect or the regiolect and the preservation of the dialect or the regiolect, Beikircher has received several awards, including the Morenhovener Lupe in 1988 , the Rheinlandtaler in 1993 and the Friedestrompreis in 2002 . In 2005 Beikircher received the Grand Culture Prize of the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland, endowed with 30,000 euros . On September 24, 2006, he received the Cologne Literature Prize . The jury's reasoning stated: “With a high degree of empathy for the world of thought, mentality and language of the Rhinelander and especially of the 'Cologne people', he observed and analyzed his being. He presents his statements with wit and psychological skill so clearly and intelligently that surprising effects come to light again and again. ”In 2012 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class .
