Various

The anecdote “Autobus S” is told in 99 variants and serves as a way of experimenting Queneau with the French language through all styles, slangs and dialects up to phonetic spelling. Reading is recommended because of the language and sound games in the French original, although the German translation by Harig / Helmlé is considered to be intellectually equal. In 2016, an expanded new translation by Frank Heibert and Hinrich Schmidt-Henkel was published, also by Suhrkamp (the translators were awarded the Straelen Translator Prize of the Kunststiftung NRW 2017).
