Brigitte Schär

Brigitte Schär (born February 1, 1958 in Zurich ) is a Swiss writer , singer and performer.

Live and act

Schär, who grew up in Meilen on Lake Zurich, studied German and European folk literature and completed training in singing and speaking. After completing her studies, she was a German teacher and speaker in the studio of the blind hearing library for a few years ; in addition, she performed as a singer in the field of freely improvised music and jazz . She has been working as a freelance writer and singer since she was thirty.

She publishes books for adults and children, which have received various awards and have so far been translated into fifteen languages.

From 1989 to 1991 she worked in the vocal trio Eisgesänge together with Dorothea Schürch and Magda Vogel . In 1994 she performed with Bruno Spoerri and David Moss at the Willisau Jazz Festival . With the Dutch pianist Trudy Raymakers she has been on tour to Switzerland, Europe and Sudan. She also gives improvisation concerts with musicians such as Reto Weber , John Wolf Brennan , Pierre Favre , Hans Kennel , Corin Curschellas , Hans Koch , Nana Twum Nketia, Emilen Sanou, LaDonna Smith, Daniele Patumi and Jeffrey Morgan .

She was also involved in multimedia projects in the fields of dance, video, and film and taught voice training and singing.

Brigitte Schär has been combining her various artistic directions since the 1990s. In collaboration with other musicians, she developed settings of her literature and a very unique literary-musical form of performance. Various stage programs (mostly solos) for adults or children were created. Brigitte Schär also publishes her literary songs and story-songs on CDs.

Brigitte Schär appears all over the world with her concert readings and performance readings. Your performance languages ​​are German, English and French. She lives in Zurich.

As a CAS teaching artist (studied at the Bern University of the Arts 2011/2012), she leads multimedia writing projects and project weeks in schools and for adults.
