Italo Svevo Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Italo-Svevo-Preis is a literary prize that has been awarded to outstanding German-speaking authors since 2001. The award named after Italo Svevo is endowed with 15,000 euros and is made possible by the Hamburg issuing house Nordcapital . Until 2007 it was awarded by Blue Capital and until 2004 in cooperation with the Free Academy of Arts in Leipzig . Until 2011, a jury appointed by the Board of Trustees decided who would be honored with the award. Since 2013, a three-person jury with changing composition has been awarding the award.

The Italo Svevo Prize honors "literary varieties of aesthetic obstinacy", according to the sponsor. The award promotes and honors the work of a German-speaking author, which has become visible in at least three independent publications, and who, in the opinion of the juror, still lacks due public recognition and broad attention. The award applies to achievements in the field of prose : novel , essay , literary report or experimental forms of storytelling.

The award ceremony has been held in the Literaturhaus Hamburg since 2005 .
