Zsuzsanna Gahse

Zsuzsanna Gahse , born as Zsuzsanna Vajda (also Zsusanna Gahse) (born June 27, 1946 in Budapest ) is a German-speaking writer and literary translator in Switzerland. In 2018 she was awarded the Grand Prix Literature of the Swiss Literature Awards.

Life

Zsuzsanna Gahse is the daughter of Hungarian parents, her mother tongue is Hungarian . After the Hungarian uprising of 1956, her family fled to the west and settled in Vienna . Zsuzsanna Gahse visited there and in Kassel the school , and gained the German language to. She published literary works from 1969. From 1978 onwards, her mentor Helmut Heißenbüttel encouraged her to translate from Hungarian. From 1989 to 1993 she was a lecturer at the University of Tübingen , 1996, she exercised a poetics - lectureship at the University of Bamberg from.

Gahse also excelled as a translator from Hungarian into German. She lived in Stuttgart for a long time, in the early 1990s in Überlingen and now mainly in Müllheim in Switzerland , in the canton of Thurgau .

Zsuzsanna Gahse is a member of PEN Center in Germany and Switzerland, the author Association The Kogge and authors of Switzerland (AoS).
