Künstlerhaus Edenkoben

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Künstlerhaus Edenkoben has the task of promoting art and culture. This is done through an event program, through the award of grants and the edition of book series.

History, location and space

To promote culture and art, the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Culture founded the Künstlerhaus in 1987, which was initially housed in the manor at Edenkoben , Klosterstrasse 175. After the renovation of the Bergelmühle located in the vineyards, which was acquired in 1995 by the Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture , the artist's house moved there in 1997 due to differences of opinion between the owner of the manor house, Konrad Stahl, and the owner. The house is on Klosterstrasse 181 in Edenkoben. In addition to the main building, the grounds include an event hall, several studio buildings and a garden with an orchard. The Künstlerhaus contains four apartments for scholarship holders, several guest rooms, a printing workshop and a library. It is financed by annual grants from the foundation. The current head is Hans Thill , whose work is supported by an advisory board and a support group.

tasks

The Künstlerhaus runs its own program of events with a focus on contemporary literature, especially poetry, as well as visual arts and music. Due to the presence of the scholarship holders, it is not only a place to work and live for poets, authors, translators, artists and musicians, but also a meeting place for those interested in art and literature. There are joint projects with neighboring French colleagues and institutions and intensive cooperation with numerous cultural institutions in Germany, for example with the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck , the Literaturhaus Berlin and the Südwestrundfunk . In addition, several series of books are published, including bilingual books as a result of the translation workshop.
