Katharina Grosse uses a compressor-operated spray gun for her painting. Grosse created the first wall works painted with the spray gun technique in 1998 in Sydney as a contribution to the 11th Biennale of Sydney or in the same year in the Kunsthalle Bern . In the following years, Grosse sprayed larger areas, which from 2001 also continued in the outdoor area. The installation arrangements of the works are becoming more and more complex: the floor and ceiling are added to the painting surface, rubble and stone are piled up, furniture, fabrics, objects and objects are included. Museums, private houses, billboards, stairwells, canteens and training rooms were painted. The spray works create counterpoints and irritations that create an illusion, a false perception of reality.
