Norbert Tadeusz

Norbert Tadeusz (born February 19, 1940 in Dortmund ; † July 11, 2011 in Düsseldorf ) was a German artist and well-known contemporary representational painter.

life and work

Tadeusz was the son of a Dortmund miner who came from Poland. From 1960 to 1961 he studied painting with Gustav Deppe at the Werkkunstschule Dortmund . From 1961 to 1966 he studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Gerhard Hoehme , Joseph Fassbender and with Joseph Beuys , who appointed him his master class . In 1970 he stayed on the island of Elba , where he painted scenes of everyday culture in Italy .

From 1973 to 1981 he worked as a lecturer in painting at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf , Art Education Department in Münster, today Art Academy Münster , and in 1981 as a professor at the State Art Academy Düsseldorf, Art Education Department. In 1983 he stayed in Florence . In 1988 he was a visiting professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe . From 1988 to 1991 Tadeusz was professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin and from 1991 to 2003 professor for monumental art at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig . In the 1990s he lived with the Cologne artist Ulla Horký ; In 2002 he married the painter Petra Lemmerz. She has been managing the Norbert Tadeusz Estate since 2011.

His paintings are characterized in particular by complex compositions, convincing formal rigor and an overwhelming power of color. In terms of art history, Tadeusz can only be assigned to Expressionism to a limited extent ; his work has many overlaps with anti-futurism. He was particularly committed to the Museum Insel Hombroich .

Norbert Tadeusz was a member of the German Association of Artists , in whose annual exhibitions he took part seven times between 1980 and 1990.
