Evinger Bach pumping station
The Evinger Bach pumping station is a hydraulic structure built by the Emschergenossenschaft in Dortmund in 1953 .
The pumping station, which is located directly at the Fredenbaumpark , ensures that water is kept in the north of Dortmund . Due to subsidence caused by mining , the Evinger Bach , which gave it its name, no longer drained properly in the 1930s and the surrounding area became marshy. After initially operating a few makeshift pumping stations, the current building was erected in 1953.
The pumping station has a maximum output of 12,000 liters per second. The Evinger Bach is drained into the Aalbach via pressure pipes . This flows into the Emscher near Deusen .
The building can be visited on selected dates and is also used for concerts and exhibitions, for example in 2008 with paintings by the monumental painter Norbert Tadeusz .
The Evinger Bach pumping station is part of theme route 13 of the Route of Industrial Culture .
