Information board for the Emscher pumping station Huckarde

The Emscherpumpwerk Huckarde is a hydraulic structure in the Dortmund district of Huckarde . It is in the immediate vicinity of the Hansa colliery and the Hansa coking plant .

The reasons for the construction of the pumping station are the subsidence caused by mining . To enable drainage of the Huckarde district, the pumping station was built west of the Emscher in 1926. After the pumping station was initially expanded in the 1930s and 1980s, the Emschergenossenschaft, as the operator, decided to shut down the pumping station after the Hansa colliery was closed.

The Emscherpumpwerk Huckarde is registered as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund and is part of the route of industrial culture . The building is privately owned and cannot be visited.
