Theme route 25: Panoramas and landmarks of the RIK

Panoramas and Landmarks is the name of the 25th themed section of the Route of Industrial Culture .

A landmark is a topographical object that is usually visible from afar, which is used for orientation and navigation and is therefore also marked on maps. If it is perceived as characteristic of its environment, it can also become a landmark . With panorama the lookout point on an elevation or a tall building is meant. The route of industrial culture includes both landmarks (for example art objects on the dumps or illuminated winding towers as lighthouses) and industrial historical landmarks (for example buildings or places of contemporary history).

In detail, heaps , winding towers , blast furnaces , gasometers , water towers , art objects , parks and the like are listed here. Many of them have been artistically designed or supplemented in recent years, be it with sculptures or light installations. The RVR names some of the artist names here: Richard Serra , Dani Karavan , Herman Prigann , Ulrich Rückriem , Dan Flavin , Agustín Ibarrola , Mischa Kuball and Jonathan Park .

The Landmark Art route is complemented by the panoramas of the Route of Industrial Culture.

Route 25 was renamed at the beginning of 2011, the Tippelsberg and various towers, especially from the south of the Ruhr area, were added and additional points from other routes were added, so that the number of stations increased from 21 to 34. Several points were omitted, the night and day panoramas, locations Castrop-Rauxel, Dortmund, Herne, Bochum are now no longer represented in the route of industrial culture. In 2012, the RVR added the Mechtenberg Landscape Park to the route, and in 2013 the Tiger & Turtle sculpture was used as the name of the panorama instead of the Anger Park.
