Beckstrasse dump
The Beckstrasse dump is a tailings pile of the Prosper-Haniel mine in Bottrop .
It was created from 1963 to 1980. Since October 2, 1995, it has been released from mining supervision and is the property of the Ruhr Regional Association .
The dump shape is a table mountain , the dump volume is 11.8 million m³. The dump towers over its surroundings by 80 meters, its summit height is 110 meters above sea level .
It is one of the most famous dumps in the Ruhr area . To the east, separated by a railway line, is the Prosperstrasse dump .
Cultivation and Use
On top of it is the walkable, approximately 60 meter high tetrahedron , together they form the dump event Emscherblick . From 2009 to 2014, local road transport used a hydrogen bus from Vestische Straßenbahnen GmbH to drive to the dump plateau on weekends .
