Wolfgang Berke

Wolfgang Berke (born January 26, 1954 in Wanne-Eickel ) is a German journalist and book author .

Life

Berke grew up in Wanne-Eickel in the district Röhlinghausen and graduated at the local high school boy (now School Eickel ) the High School . He then studied social sciences at the Ruhr University Bochum and graduated with a diploma . He then worked first in youth and adult education, but switched to journalism in 1980. First he worked as a freelancer for the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung , the youth program of WDR television and Peephole , the forerunner of the Prinz magazine . His other journalistic positions were editor at WAZ, editor-in-chief at Prinz magazine and head of communications at the motorcycle industry association . Since 2001 he has been running his own media office in Bochum and now in Herne . Berke is the author of numerous non-fiction books about the Ruhr area and its regional history. He has also written numerous travel guides, bike and motorcycle guides.

Trivia

Wolfgang Berke was from 1982 to 1986 and has been a member of the rock band Herne 3 since 2018 . He plays bass and is a writer and co-writer on many of the band's songs.

During 2002, Berke was the first German-speaking author to first publish a book on the Internet : Wanne Eickel - Das Buch der Stadt appeared on the website wanne-eickel.de, which Berke has been running ever since, and was only then published as a book.
