Westpol is a political magazine on WDR television that deals with state politics in North Rhine-Westphalia and is currently broadcast on Sundays from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
It reports on the political decision-makers and the motivation for their politics as well as the influence of state politics on the everyday life of people in business, society, school and work. Relationships and effects of politics are presented. Political scandals and affairs as well as wrong decisions are also critically examined. Westpol also carries out business-critical reporting in the interests of consumer protection, for example in the case of dubious rent increases by LEG and toxic waste disposal by Envio .
According to the WDR, an average of around 800,000 people per week follow the program produced by a 20-person editorial team.
The editorial office of the magazine is based in the WDR radio station at Stromstrasse 24 in Düsseldorf's government district , where the programs are also recorded and broadcast. The conception of the program was developed by Ralf Kapschack , among others .
In August 2020, the show moved to a new studio with a slightly different design.
