Gustav Deppe

Gustav Deppe (born September 12, 1913 in Essen , † September 1, 1999 in Witten ) was a German painter who mainly painted abstract industrial landscapes.

From 1930 to 1933 he studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Dortmund under Walter Herricht and Max Guggenberger . Deppe finally settled in Witten in 1936. The Second World War took him to Norway and Finland, among others . In 1948 he was a co-founder of the artist group “ Junge westen ” and from 1952 a member of the German Association of Artists . From 1953 to 1977 he also taught at this school, now called Werkkunstschule Dortmund. From 1973 to 1977 he held a professorship in the design department at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences .
