Ralf Thenior
Ralf Thenior (born June 4, 1945 in Bad Kudowa , Silesia ) is a German writer and member of the PEN Center Germany .
Live and act
Ralf Thenior grew up in Hamburg . He completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk , then trained as a translator at the interpreting institute of Saarbrücken University . After being on the second-chance education his high school had made, studied it at the University of Hamburg German language and sociology . He traveled extensively in North and Central America and in 1977 was one of the organizers of the 1st Federal German Poetry Festival in Hamburg. 1985/86 he held a poetics lectureship at the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz .
He began in the 1970s as a writer of everyday poetry, who distanced himself from the tendency towards the " new subjectivity " at the time and wanted to contribute to language criticism by using everyday language in his poems . Thenior's early narrative prose makes use of fantastic elements and has experimental features. He has also been the author of successful books for children and young people since the 1990s .
Thenior is a member of the Association of German Writers and the NRW Literature Council . He lives as a freelance writer in Dortmund .
Thenior was married to Jutta Richter and they have one daughter.

- 2006: Large Edenkoben grant from the State of Rhineland-Palatinate ( Künstlerhaus Edenkoben ).
