Theresia Walser

Theresia Walser (born November 20, 1967 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German playwright .

Life

After working in geriatric care for a year, Theresia Walser, a daughter of the author Martin Walser , trained as an actor at the Bern University of Music and Theater from 1990 to 1994 . She was a member of the ensemble at the Junge Theater Göttingen for two years . She lives as a writer in Berlin , Mannheim and Freiburg im Breisgau, among others .

Theresia Walser is the author of plays that are intended as an alternative to current stage realism and whose unusual, poetic art of language is unanimously praised by the critics. Works by her have been translated into French, Spanish, Polish and Greek. In 1998 the jury of the magazine “ Theater heute ” selected her as the youngest writer of the year ; in the same year she received the schiller memorial award of the state of Baden-Württemberg. In the winter semester 2011/2012 she was, together with Karl-Heinz Ott , owner of the poetics lectureship at the University of Koblenz-Landau .
