Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture

The Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture is a legal foundation under public law based in Mainz .

The purpose of the foundation is to promote art and culture in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . In particular, the foundation promotes the acquisition and securing of particularly valuable works of art and cultural assets, important documentation and presentation projects (e.g. exhibitions, concerts, productions, publications and film productions) as well as special tasks of promoting artists and cultural institutions. The funds required to fulfill the foundation's purpose come from the investment income of the foundation's assets as well as from ongoing donations and other allowances.

The foundation was established by the state government on December 17, 1991 and the foundation's assets consist of proceeds from the privatization of state holdings as well as other contributions from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and third-party donations.

The foundation bodies are the board of directors and the board of trustees . The board consists of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Minister for Science, Further Education and Culture and the Minister of Justice of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. The chairman of the board is currently Prime Minister Malu Dreyer .

The board of trustees consists of up to 16 people, four of whom are members of the state parliament and the other members are appointed by the state government. The current chairman is the Minister for Science, Continuing Education and Culture, Konrad Wolf .
