Michael Jäger (painter)
Michael Jäger (* 1956 in Düsseldorf ) is a German painter .
Life
Jäger received a working grant from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation in 1985 and a guest grant from the Villa Romana in Florence in 1987 . In 1992 he designed a window facade extending over three floors for the new wing of the Paracelsus Clinic in Marl with a glass painting . The artist painted the picture surfaces, divided by the basic formats of the glass fields, with a colored, amorphous figuration.
In 1993/1994 he took on a teaching position for painting at the Technical College for Design in Pforzheim . In 1995/1996 he was a visiting professor for art at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1997 Jäger received a scholarship from the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris . In 1998/1999, Jäger held a teaching position for drawing at the Technical College for Design in Pforzheim. In 1999 he was artist in residence at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Odense .
In 2004 he received a studio grant for the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben . “The acrylic glass pictures by Michael Jäger, who literally celebrates the effect of many different colors in a relatively small space with varnish and oil on Diabond, appear bright, almost too colorful and carefree. His works are a unique homage to color and irregularity […] ”, wrote Eva Maria Weilemann in the newspaper Die Rheinpfalz on March 20, 2006 about Jäger's final exhibition in Edenkoben. Jäger received a Barkenhoff scholarship in 2004/2005 , combined with a stay in the Worpswede artist houses .
Jäger is a board member of the German Association of Artists . He lives and works in Cologne .
